Job Description:

The Technical Manager will be entrusted with ensuring there is thorough technical management of our integrated feed mill operation and managing the formulations and quality assurance

Job Responsibilities:

• Conducts technical meetings and ensures that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered upon. Ensures all other relevant technical meetings take place.
• Provides input to annual functional “Strategy into Action, and executes annual objectives for the Technical department.
• Conducts regular performance appraisals with subordinates and ensures that the process is cascaded throughout the technical team.
• Manages Mixer meal, Rework, and Sweeper log
• Champions training and development of the technical team through utilizing available training opportunities or contributing to the development of new training solutions in collaboration with regional and national
• training specialists.
• Coordinating submissions of feed and raw material samples to both central and external laboratories and the interpretation and reaction to results.
• Contributes to the relationship between the cross-functional mill management team, driving formulation and quality team outputs in order to ensure service delivery.
• Suggesting innovative methods to continually improve quality control and laboratory processes.
• Provides technical support to Feed Mill Manager and Raw Material Planner with regard to Macro and Micro raw material usage and variance analysis.
• Partners with the National Technical Team by keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in animal nutrition.
• Supports traceability through process documentation and effective sample archiving.

Qualification & Experience:

• 4 to 5 yrs experience preferably 2 years of which is at a Management level in an animal feed, formulations or animal production environment
• Feed formulation experience
• B.sc Agric. Preferably in Animal Science
• Proven business acumen and track record of delivery
