Job Description:
The Unit Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. In accordance the incumbent will be accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify quality improvement opportunities and ensure appropriate strategy and Quality Improvement initiatives are developed and measured.
- Order stock from preferred suppliers and conduct cycle counts.
- Identify and pro-actively address problem areas
- Manage HR costs in such a way as to ensure cost effective quality care including overtime, temporary staff.
- Manage all costs emanating from the theatre.
- Ensure continuous evaluation of Administrative records and Nursing records.
- Control of asset register.
- Manage charging and billing.
- Plan and organise staffing, including duty hours, time keeping and leave planning
- Manage equipment, planned maintenance programme for equipment service schedules, in conjunction with clinical engineering department.
- Investigate all negative incidents and ensure appropriate capturing on IMS.
Job Requirements:
- Sound financial knowledge and the ability to interpret financial data.
- 2 or more years of experience in a private hospital setting as a Manager or Clinical Nurse Specialist
- An intermediate level of Computer proficiency
- 5 or more years of experience as a RN
- Experience in General ICU.
- Experience in clinical leadership.
Qualification & Experience:
- Diploma in Critical Care
- A relevant nursing qualification – Diploma in General Nursing (NQF level 6) or B Cur Degree (NQF level 7).
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
